Uruguay’s tax authority declares exempted minimal corporate tax prepayments and property taxes as a consequence of coronavirus

The Uruguayan Directorate-General for Taxes on Aug. 2 declared exemptions from minimum corporation tax (IRAE) and property tax (IPAT) for certain taxpayers due to the coronavirus pandemic. The announcement explains: 1) the exemption of eligible taxpayers from the IRAE and IPAT minimum amounts due between January and June; 2) annual reporting for taxpayers who have received a tax exemption; 3) the recovery procedure for amounts already paid; and 4) specific rules for special control over companies (CEDE), large taxpayers and non-CEDE taxpayers.
