Tax Preparation

United Manner of Mercer County presents free tax preparation

United Way of Mercer County offers free tax preparation to households earning less than $ 65,000 a year.

The program will be available through April 15 at the United Way Lawrenceville office and the Salvation Army in Trenton. To schedule an appointment to submit documents, visit uwgmc.org/freetaxprogram or call 609-896-1912.

Over the past year, UWGMC’s free tax preparation program has helped more than 1,300 families and individuals file their tax returns despite closures related to COVID-19. Individuals and families using the free tax preparation services can save on filing fees, avoid scams like robbery loans disguised as instant tax refunds, and connect to health care, food aid, and other federal resources.

“We’re here to help families in trouble get back on their feet. COVID-19 has taken its toll on so many, including those who barely held on to it before the pandemic, ”said Sanda Toussaint, President and CEO of UWGMC. “We urge the Mercer County community not to miss this opportunity.”

Due to COVID-19, the service is only a drop-off and pick-up. There is no personal tax preparation on the same day.

The United Way office, 3150 Brunswick Pike, Suite 230, in Lawrenceville, is open only Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. by appointment. Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. evenings. The Salvation Army, 575 E. State St.., In Trenton, accepts walk-ins Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
