FORT MYERS, Florida – The United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Okeechobee offers free tax filing assistance as part of its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

The program is offered to families earning less than $ 66,000 per year.

According to United Way, VITA volunteers will work to prepare tax returns and determine whether taxpayers are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Childcare Credit. They will also help low- to middle-income households meet basic needs and build financial assets.
