Corporate Tax

The corporate tax plan with a minimal wage of $ 15 doesn’t get off the bottom

“I would be extremely nervous if I tried a brand new idea like this with virtually no review,” Jason Furman, a former Obama administration economist, said on Twitter on Friday.

Wyden and Sanders had a short window of opportunity to nail the proposal down, and it was uncertain whether any Senate Democrat would have supported the move. The White House was also the mother of the idea, and has indicated that President Joe Biden was reluctant to overturn the MP’s decision.

Democratic leaders want Biden to sign the incentive for the bill before unemployment benefits for millions of people expire in mid-March, which means little time for an alternative plan to emerge, the Post reported.

It remains to be seen how the Senate will ultimately remove the question of the minimum wage from the company’s economic stimulus program. Other measures to increase wages for minimum wage workers could still be included, reports the Post.

Despite the early hurdles, the Democrats vowed to pursue minimum wage legislation later in Biden’s presidency.

“We’re going to have to spend the next days or even weeks trying to figure out what’s the best way to go, but he’s committed to it,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki told Fox News on Sunday.

The federal minimum wage has remained the same since it was last raised to $ 7.25 an hour in 2009.
