Adults aged 50 and over can receive help preparing their federal and state income tax forms for 2020 TaxAide, an AARP program.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the service will be offered online instead of at the Pasadena Senior Center.
Anyone who wants help from this no-touch program needs the following: An email address; A computer with a camera and microphone or a family member who can help with this; The ability to email scanned or photographed copies of tax documents.
Next they should call (626) 639-8760 and leave a voicemail with their name, area code and phone number. A trained, IRS certified TaxAide The representative will return the call within three to five business days and schedule an online appointment.
The service will continue through April 15 as long as dates are available. Appointments must be made at least two weeks in advance.
When coronavirus levels improve significantly, TaxAide hopes to provide a no-touch service at the Pasadena Senior Center where older adults can bring their tax documents to be scanned and a counselor can prepare returns and review them over the phone.
