Swampscott is resuming the senior and veteran tax break program

SWAMPSCOTT, MA – Swampscott is bringing back a program that enables seniors and veterans to receive property tax relief through volunteering with city services.

Seniors 60 and older and veterans who own and live in their own home have the right to help with up to $ 1,000 off their property tax year round or on special projects around the city.

Volunteers are paired with departments and provide services that range from bureaucratic assistance, serving meals at the senior center, gardening, general work, light work outdoors, supporting recreational programs, and providing library assistance.

Applicants are encouraged to apply by December 31st as places are limited.
