The University of Missouri Extension offers residents of northwest Missouri free tax preparation and electronic filing assistance. Locations and dates are in Marshall, Keytesville, Carrollton, and several other locations in the region.
According to a press release, MU Extension will help you for free if you are a low-to-middle-income individual or family of any age and need help filing your taxes. Tax returns can also be prepared for school and university students. Due to IRS regulations, this tax page acts as a voluntary income tax aid or VITA page and cannot prepare tax returns for individuals and families who own a small business or farm.
The program is staffed by IRS-trained volunteers who create tax forms and provide electronic feedback for returns.
Individuals can begin scheduling an appointment immediately by calling the Saline County Extension Office at 660-886-6908, the Chariton County MU Extension Office at 660-288-3239, or the Carroll County Extension Office at 660-542-1792.
