Metropolis of Suffolk opens property tax relief program for functions

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Suffolk Department of Social Services announced that it is accepting applications for the Housing Assistance Program for the Elderly or the Disabled.

The application period starts on January 1st, 2022 and runs until June 30th, 2022. This does not apply to veterans who can apply at any time.

The program provides lower or exempt property taxes for qualified homeowners and up to 10 acres of land for certain homeowners. Applicants must be 65 years of age or older or permanently and completely disabled by June 30th to qualify.

The combined household income cannot exceed $ 303,075.

To schedule an appointment to apply for the program or to have questions, call (757) 514-4870 or (757) 514-4222. The public is served on foot Monday through Thursday from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
