McHenry County College is hosting free tax assistance and e-filing of federal and state returns for qualified individuals until April 13 through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic.
Participants can choose to meet with advisors in person at the Crystal Lake-based college or drop off their returns to get them back at a later date.
Walk-in hours are 10 am to 2 pm Saturdays and 3:30 to 8:30 pm Wednesdays in room A102. The clinic will be close on March 30 and April 2.
To attend in person, use the south entrance and park in the lower level of parking lot B.
To use the remote drop-off option, email firstname.lastname@example.org to receive tax intake sheets. Once all paperwork is completed, taxpayers can either mail information to MCC or drop it off on campus by depositing information in a locked drop box near the lower main entrance.
The VITA Clinic prepares tax returns for individuals or households with incomes of less than $60,000. Participants should bring a valid photo ID, all 2021 earnings statements and other income documents, a copy of last year’s return and bank account information for direct deposits. All tax forms will be provided.
