MACC proposes tax breaks to corporations that implement transplant consciousness packages

PUTRAJAYA (Aug 13): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has proposed automatic tax breaks for any company or organization running corruption prevention and education programs in the country.

MACC (Prevention) Deputy Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil said the move should be done as such programs can be quite costly to organize.

As an example, he cited the estimated cost of the MACC television commercial showing local animated characters Upin Ipin, at RM 1 million.

“It would be good if the government had a clear policy that any company involved in anti-corruption awareness efforts can get tax breaks.

“This means that (companies) don’t have to apply for (the tax break) all the time, and that is nothing for companies to worry about knowing that if they are involved in transplant awareness programs, they will get tax breaks later “, He said yesterday in an interview with the radio station

In the MACC Strategic Plan 2021-2025, presented on August 3rd, MACC proposed the creation of a policy to allow tax breaks for any organization that contributes to anti-corruption efforts.

Shamshun Baharin said the tax break incentive would encourage more companies or organizations to work with MACC to run corruption prevention and education programs for the community.
