BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Brischea Bowman Johnson is only allowed to file her own taxes after a ruling by Judge Shayna Beevers Morvant.
It all started with an investigation into whether Johnson filed false public records.
This investigation led to the arrest of Brischea Bowman Johnson.
According to the Louisiana Department of the Treasury, “Johnson was arrested in 2020 after a joint investigation between the Criminal Investigation Department of the Louisiana Department of Revenue and the Attorney General found she filed false tax returns, including fraudulent claims for deductions, for several of her clients for charitable contributions and business expenses. “
Johnson filed a guilty plea that led the Louisiana Department of Revenue to attempt to ban Brischea Johnson from preparing taxes in the state.
The ruling means Johnson will no longer have a job as a tax advisor.
It does not mean “preparing, filing, or assisting in the preparation or filing of Louisiana state tax returns other than your own,” according to the Louisiana Department of Revenue.
Brischea Bowman Johnson is the seventh person to be banned from providing tax advice in Louisiana.
