Governor Justice is holding city corridor on proposal to abolish state earnings tax

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – During his press conference Monday morning, Governor Jim Justice announced that he would hold a town hall on Monday afternoon to discuss his proposal to abolish state income tax.

The town hall takes place at 3 p.m.

The governor says he will answer questions from as many West Virginians as possible about the proposal.

West Virgins can submit questions in advance to 304.558.200. A receptionist will write down your question. You can also email your question by clicking here.

The abolition of state income tax was one of the proposals made by Governor Justice in his state address. Governor Justice said Monday he believes this “overtime” can be done and the “first step is to get rid of half of it”.

“It drives people here,” said Governor Justice Monday. “West Virginia is in the spotlight now.”

“Now is our moment and we have to seize our moment.”

Governor Justice said Monday he plans to hold town halls on the proposal until he is confident that the West Virgins “really understand what it is doing”.
