Eligible Residents will continue to have free tax preparation
With the deadline for filing taxes now being extended to May 17th, employees still have time to contact FiveCAP to see if they are eligible for free tax assistance.
Each year, FiveCAP assists low-income residents with federal and state tax preparation.
In addition to helping prepare for free federal and state level income credits and returns, FiveCAP also assists with submitting homestead tax / rental credits, home heating credits, and child tax credits.
Residents may be asked to bring the following documents to their appointment: any W-2 and / or 1099 forms; Annual accounts for those receiving social security benefits; Declarations of family independence from the Ministry of Health and Human Services; Maintenance declarations for children; Information on unemployment benefit; other income statements in 2020; Heating costs from the previous year; Property tax returns for summer and winter with a state-balanced value; as well as birthday and social security numbers for the applicants and all relatives in their household.
