Tax Preparation

Free tax preparation providers for seniors and low-income SLO Counties will start in February

Seniors and low-to-middle-income community members in San Luis Obispo County can receive free tax assistance from the AARP Foundation Tax Advisor in San Luis Obispo County in February.

Starting Monday, February 1st, community members – including those who are not AARP members – can make an appointment with AARP to prepare their taxes, according to a spokesman for the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide.

AARP Tax-Aide will not be holding personal tax preparation meetings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, taxpayers bring their tax documents to a tax-aide location, where they are handed in or scanned according to the spokesman.

The person’s tax return will be prepared and they will be notified when to collect the tax return and their documents. It is then submitted electronically. At all locations except the Paso Robles location, taxpayers must make an appointment for the drop-off or have their tax documents scanned.

Interested parties can make a submission or scan appointment at one of the seven AARP Tax-Aide preparation centers by calling 805-931-6308:
