Free Tax Prep in Tehama County – Purple Bluff Day by day Information

The AARP Foundation, in partnership with the IRS and with support from local Rotary clubs, sponsors a free income tax preparation program run by local volunteers.

Tehama County’s free TaxAide program is taking phone calls for repatriation preparation appointments beginning Tuesday, January 25, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 727-8298. Your telephone message will be forwarded to a mailbox and returned by a volunteer as soon as possible.

Due to the ongoing COVID restrictions, the TaxAide program is unable to admit the taxpayer into the tax prep area, with the exception of limited access for document drop-off and collection.

Standard protocols apply – masks, 6ft distancing and rescheduling if you feel ill or have been recently exposed. Appointments are required.

After the interview, the taxpayers leave their tax documents and can still be reached by phone. They come back the same day to review, approve and collect declarations and documentation.

Taxpayers must fill out a completed intake form and bring it with them to their appointment. Local taxpayers can obtain an intake form from the Red Bluff Library, 545 Diamond Ave. obtain, download at or call 727-8298.

TaxAide will operate from two locations, the Red Bluff Library, which will have signs directing taxpayers to the north entrance, and the Red Bluff Elks Lodge, 355 Gilmore Road.

Do not call the library or lodge as they cannot assist you in making an appointment.
