Free Revenue Tax Preparation For San Leandro Residents

SAN LEANDRO, CA — If the thought of filing income returns makes your head spin, here’s good news — free help is available for middle and low income residents in San Leandro.

The United Way Bay Area is partnering with IRS-certified volunteers to provide the service.

“We are pleased to offer free, secure, and high-quality tax preparation services for eligible Bay Area residents as part of our poverty-fighting programs,” said Kevin Zwick, CEO of United Way Bay Area. “It is important for taxpayers to get every tax refund dollar they are owed. Thanks to the hard work of our trained volunteers, low-income Bay Area residents can take full advantage of cash-back tax credits like the Federal and California Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.”

Since 2003, volunteers have helped secure almost a billion dollars in refunds for Bay Area households.

Even if you don’t typically file a tax return, it is important to file now because of the benefits programs.

There are 70 tax sites for in-person tax preparation and drop-off around the Bay Area. Start with this checklist of items needed to file taxes.

Near San Leandro, help is available in Hayward, Castro Valley, Oakland and San Lorenzo.
