Evaluate of HMRC’s corporate tax treaty wanted, says lawmakers

The UK Parliament should have more oversight over settlements the Inland Revenue is striking with large corporations, a group of UK lawmakers said in a report released Monday.

The group would like to address perceptions of a “lack of public trust” in Her Majesty’s tax and customs authorities – “which we share,” the report reads.

The all-party parliamentary group on anti-corruption and responsible taxation released the report after a public consultation with the government earlier this year. The group focused on public trust in HMRC’s dispute resolutions with multinational corporations and proposed the establishment of a parliamentary committee to publicly examine these settlements. …
