DuCharme, McMillen & Associates (DMA), a Fort Wayne-based corporate tax consulting firm headquartered, has expanded into Europe with a new location in Germany.
DMA’s expansion into Germany will allow the company to better serve European companies with offices in the United States.
European companies often struggle to manage the complex maze of US state and local tax systems. Tax compliance has become even more difficult with the Wayfair Court ruling that has significantly increased the number of businesses that must collect taxes in the United States. The 2018 Supreme Court case ruled that states may levy taxes on purchases made by sellers outside of state, even if they are not present in the tax state.
“There are over 12,000 tax jurisdictions in the US alone. We find that our European customers with offices in the US can be overwhelmed by the complexities of US taxation, and we believe that we can do better with a European presence to support this. ” Customers with their US tax automation needs, ”said Justin Reinard, EVP for Tax Technology at DMA.
According to the DMA, more and more global companies – including companies based in the United States, Canada, and Europe – are trying to automate transaction tax compliance with comprehensive, global solutions. The company’s tax practice combines the customers’ ERP systems with software that automates tax calculations for purchase and sales transactions and optimizes reporting to the relevant tax authorities. This saves valuable time and resources for the internal tax, IT and accounting departments.
Dan Hutmacher, CEO of DMA, notes that more and more companies are moving closer to tax automation from a global perspective as more jurisdictions expand the scope of their tax rules and compliance obligations. “With many companies currently considering deploying tax software globally rather than just in the US, DMA’s expanded presence will help us better serve our global customers,” said Hutmacher.
Founded in 1972, DMA helps companies minimize taxes, improve their tax function using the latest technology, and manage tax compliance. The company offers listings for property tax, sales / use tax and goods tax, state income and franchise tax, tax technology, sales tax, duty and duty, crown fees and unclaimed property.
DMA employs more than 400 people in 15 locations in the United States and three locations in Canada.
