HICKORY – Due to COVID-19 precautions mandated by AARP, there will be no in-person tax preparation by volunteer tax advisors this year.
Tax preparation is done by submitting tax information at a scheduled time, followed by collection of completed forms at a later time.
Volunteer accountants can be dropped off at the Catawba County Library in Newton on Tuesdays beginning February 1. Drop-offs begin Friday, February 4th at West Hickory Senior Center.
Appointments are required to maintain pandemic safety procedures. Beginning January 18, appointments can be made by calling 828-358-4669 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. AARP is asking people to be patient when calling this number and not try to leave a message.
This service is open to all members of the community.
