Tax Preparation

AARP Tax-Aide expands free tax preparation providers via Might 15 neighborhood

The deadline for filing and paying IRS taxes has been postponed to May 17th. The Blount County Library’s AARP Foundation Tax Aide website is offering free tax preparation on Fridays and Saturdays through May 15 to anyone who has not yet filed their tax returns.

This service is by appointment only and takes place in the same building as the Blount County Clerk passage near the main library entrance.

Tax-Aide will be using a new option to visit during this five week period.

“You park in the Blount County Clerk building lot, collect the usual paperwork we use to collect your tax information, and then leave your car waiting for us while we work on your taxes,” said site coordinator Cindy To cut. “Bring your cell phone and we will ask questions and discuss your taxes with you over the phone. You will have the option to review and revise the printed return before it is emailed that day. “

Taxpayers are asked to wear masks and keep social distance during the process.

Taxpayers can schedule appointments online by logging into https://tinyurl.com/blounttaxes. Those unable to book online can call 865-245-5788 and leave their information so tax aide planners can call them back and book appointments for them.
